[not my bad]

you may have encountered a quote with the word [sic] in square brackets and wondered what it was.

[sic] is added to show that quoted text is copied verbatim, and some error in spelling or grammar was present in the original text.

a usage example: the title of the 2009 quetin tarantino movie inglourious basterds is often reviewed as inglourious basterds [sic] to show that the incorrect spelling is intentional.

this tag is often incorrectly backronym'd as "spelled in context" or "spelled incorrectly," but it is actually a latin word that translates to "thus."

the english pronunciation is like the word 'sick'
